I lead AI agent products, and I still write code...mostly with words.

Most of my days go into figuring out how an AI agent can act for someone without overstepping: what it's allowed to do, how it asks before it acts, and how we know it's getting better. Then I prototype it myself, because that's the fastest way I know to find out what's real.

I've been doing product and UX for 13+ years, across crypto and web3, fintech, prop tech, and health IT. I also take on fractional product work through my own shop, David Lee Consulting, which I've run since 2017.

I live in Austin with my wife, Julie, and our beagle, Yuna.

How I work

With engineers, I work through story-driven development. I ask for their read on sizing and effort, and I seek out their feedback on what I'm prioritizing and how the roadmap is shaping up.

AI runs through a lot of my workflows now, and they've gotten much more efficient for it. I work with AI agents in different roles: a marketer, a staff engineer, a head of product, and a designer. They all work with both our engineer agent and our human engineers.
